Last month, Team Bucket Wheels took part in the 6th annual Variety Spin for Kids event held at Newcastle Racecourse. This annual event raises money for kids who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.
A record breaking $105,000 was raised on the day, with 22 teams joining the high energy, fast paced charity event, while another 7 virtual teams kept their pedals spinning across Newcastle. Cycling a combined and astonishing 4556.5km, there were plenty of sore and tired legs at the end of the day.
A proud ‘Presenting Partner’ of the event for the fifth year running, NCIG supports everything this incredible event stands for. “We are proud to financially support this event for the fifth year running, with the great work being done by Variety, seeing all the people getting involved, raising money, having a great time, doing good things for others, and bringing people together, said Nathan Juchau, Manager HSEC. The atmosphere in the room is electric.”
The 2022 event surpassed all expectations, aiming to raise $70,000 but in the end raised more than $105,000 which will help so many children locally, especially in the Hunter.
Team Bucket Wheels put in a great effort, peddling their way to an impressive 7th place overall. Well done team!
